What the job is
This job is for a Licensed Vocational Nurse in the Emergency Department at the West Los Angeles campus of the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. You will work in Los Angeles, California.

What you will do
You will give safe, patient-centered nursing care. You will do technical nursing duties and help the health care team. You will check patients, record vital signs, help with tests, and give medication under a registered nurse or doctor. You will do procedures you are trained for, like taking EKGs, changing dressings, inserting catheters, and starting IV lines. You will help in emergencies, such as resuscitation, trauma, and airway support. You will record everything in the electronic record. You will talk with nurses, doctors, EMS, and other staff. You will keep the emergency area ready with equipment and supplies.

What you need
You must be a licensed vocational nurse. You must be a U.S. citizen and pass a drug test. You must speak and read English. You need a valid driver’s license that is REAL‑ID compliant. You must pass a background check, a physical exam, and get a flu shot. You must be able to work irregular hours. You need a valid identification card for employment.

What you will get
You will receive a competitive salary between $58,741 and $93,292. You will get 37 to 50 days of paid time off each year, including vacation, sick leave, and federal holidays. After 12 months you can get up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave. If you work full time and earn less than $144,000 you may get a childcare subsidy. You will have a federal pension after 5 years and a 401(k) plan. You will have health, vision, dental, life, and long‑term care insurance. You will not work from home.
