What the job is The Legal Administrative Specialist works for the Veterans Benefits Administration in Oakland. You help veterans and their families get information about VA benefits and other help.

What you will do You will meet with veterans, talk on the phone, or write letters to explain VA benefits and other programs. You will help them understand rating decisions and how to appeal. You will help with compensation, pensions, home loans, education, health care, life insurance, burial, and job training. You will write letters to give benefit information. You may work with special groups like women veterans or homeless veterans. You will check for errors or delays in benefits. You will finish claims and appeals.

What you need You must be a U.S. citizen. You need to be able to talk to people clearly. You need to know how to use the VA system. You must pass a background check. You must be able to work Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM. You cannot work from home regularly.
