What the job is
You will work as a Marine Interdiction Agent for Customs and Border Protection in Salt Lake City, Utah. You will help protect the ocean borders of the United States. For the first year, you will work in Washington D.C. to help make the city safe. After that, you will return to your regular duties.
What you will do
You will look for people trying to enter the country illegally. You will stop boats carrying illegal items or weapons. You will use radar to find and follow suspect boats. You will search people, bags, and boats for dangerous things. You will also collect and study information to keep the country safe.
What you need
You must be a United States citizen. You need a valid Merchant Mariner Credential. You must be able to pass a background check and a lie detector test. You must be willing to take drug tests. Men born after 1959 must be registered for the Selective Service. You must have lived in the U.S. for at least three of the last five years.
What you will get
You will earn a salary between 65545 and 142199 dollars per year. You will get an extra 25 percent of your pay for being available for law enforcement duties. New employees may get a 10000 dollar bonus after finishing training. You can get promotions every year if you do a good job and get the right licenses.
