What the job is
The Foreign Service Family Reserve Corps is a program for family members of U.S. government workers in the city and province of Montevideo, Uruguay. This program helps family members find work more easily when they live at overseas posts. Joining this group does not give you a job right away and it does not pay you. It puts you in a reserve list so you can apply for jobs at the embassy or consulate.
What you will do
When you join this program, you will be on a list of available workers. You will look for open jobs at the post where your family member works. If you find a job and are hired, you will start working and getting paid. While you are waiting for a job, you stay in the program without pay. You will also need to keep your security papers up to date.
What you need
You must be a U.S. citizen. You must be the spouse or partner of a U.S. government employee working overseas. You need to be listed on your partners official travel orders or residence reports. You cannot be a retired government worker receiving a pension. You must be able to pass a background check.
What you will get
You will get a faster way to apply for jobs at the post. You will not get a salary or benefits just for joining the program. You only get paid once you are hired for a specific job. This program helps you stay ready for work while moving with your family.
