What the job is
The Army National Guard is looking for a Surface Maintenance Mechanic in Joliet, Illinois. You will work on many different types of vehicles and machines used by the military. This job requires you to be a member of the Illinois National Guard and wear a military uniform while you work.
What you will do
You will fix and maintain heavy trucks, tanks, and cars. You will find out why machines are not working by using tools and computers. You will take apart engines and other parts to repair or replace them. You will also work on brakes, fuel systems, and electrical parts. Sometimes you will travel to different places to fix equipment that has broken down.
What you need
You must be a member of the Illinois National Guard. You need to know how to use tools to fix engines and vehicles. You must be able to pass a background check. Men born after 1959 must be registered for the Selective Service. You cannot have any domestic violence convictions. You must be willing to work extra hours if needed.
What you will get
You will receive a steady salary between 25.13 and 39.35 per hour. You will work in a professional military environment. You will get training and experience working on advanced equipment.
