What the job is
You will work as a Lock and Dam Operator in Seattle, Washington. This is a training role where you will learn to operate locks and dams under supervision. You will start at an entry level and train to move up to a higher position.

What you will do
Work alone or with a partner to help boats move through locks. Handle ropes to guide boats and tie them to the lock walls. Operate gates and water control systems. Clear ice, logs, and trash from the lock areas. Do basic maintenance like mowing, shoveling snow, and cleaning. Help with small repairs. Record boat details in logs. Use simple signals like lights and horns.

What you need
No prior experience is required. You will receive on-the-job training. Ability to follow directions and work safely is important.

What you will get
A salary between $27.96 and $32.61 per hour. Full-time work with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
