This job is for an Airport Security Officer in Gunnison, Colorado. You will work at the Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport to keep travelers and the airport safe.

What the job is
You will check passengers, baggage, and cargo to make sure no dangerous items get on planes. You will also help protect important events and people related to transportation.

What you will do
- Use screening equipment to find dangerous objects in bags and on passengers
- Search people and their belongings, which may include pat-downs and lifting bags up to 50 pounds
- Control who enters and exits the airport
- Talk to the public, give directions, and answer questions
- Stay focused in a busy, noisy environment with crowds and time pressure
- Make quick, smart decisions to handle security threats
- Follow safety rules and adapt to new situations

What you need
- You must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. national
- You must be at least 18 years old
- You must pass an interview, drug test, medical check, and background check
- You must be able to speak, read, and write English well
- You must be physically fit: lift 50 pounds, stand for long periods, walk up to 3 miles per shift, and bend or squat
- You must be available to work different shifts and overtime
- You may need to travel for training

What you will get
- Salary between $46,105 and $56,844 per year (or $22.09 to $27.24 per hour), plus a 17.06% locality pay
- A sign-on bonus of up to $15,000, paid in two parts over your first year
- Protective equipment like masks and gloves will be provided
