What the job is
The U.S. Department of State is hiring Consular Fellows to work at U.S. embassies and consulates overseas. This is a temporary job for up to 5 years, starting in Montevideo, Uruguay. You will help with visa and passport services and assist Americans abroad.

What you will do
Work as part of a team at a U.S. embassy or consulate. Handle consular tasks like processing visas and helping U.S. citizens. You may be assigned to different countries during your 5-year term. This job does not guarantee a permanent position with the U.S. government.

What you need
Be a U.S. citizen. Speak Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, or Spanish at a professional level. Be at least 20 when you apply and 21 when you start. Pass a Top-Secret security check, medical clearance, and background review. Cannot work in a country where you hold dual citizenship. Must be able to work abroad for at least 2 years.

What you will get
Full-time salary between $59,726 and $121,080 per year. A chance to serve your country and gain foreign service experience.
