What the job is
The Veterans Health Administration in Waco, Texas is hiring a Supervising Psychiatrist. This role involves leading a mental health team and providing psychiatric care to veterans. The job offers student loan repayment assistance (up to $200,000) for eligible candidates.

What you will do
- Supervise and guide psychiatry staff, including residents, fellows, and medical students.
- Provide psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment for veterans with mental health issues.
- Prescribe medications and offer therapies like crisis intervention and suicide risk assessments.
- Work with a team of psychologists, social workers, and nurses to coordinate patient care.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare policies and standards.
- Hire and train new staff, resolve team conflicts, and improve team performance.

What you need
- U.S. citizenship (or meet VA policy exceptions for non-citizens).
- Full and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Pass a drug test, background check, and physical exam.
- Must follow VA vaccination policies (e.g., seasonal flu vaccine).
- Board certification preferred for some benefits.
